Stefano Pilia is a guitarist, bass player and composer born in Genoa. Currently resident in Bologna city in which he graduated from the conservatory G.B Martini. His work takes shape from instrumental executive practice and around recording and production processes. Through the investigation of the synaesthetic properties of sound, its relations with space, time and memory, it has carried out a research always aimed at sound experience as a possibility of philosophical and creative investigation. In addition to solo production, he is among the founders of the 3/4HadBeenEliminated group, synthesis between improvisation, electroacoustic composition and avantrock sensitivity. He plays with the psychedelic quartet In Zaire, with David Grubbs and Andrea Belfi in the BGP trio, in the "Sogno del Marinaio" with legendary Mike Watt (minutemen) on bass, with Spiralis Aurea trio together with Alessandra Novaga and Adrian Utley (portishead), in duo with John Duncan, in trio with Anthony Pateras and Riccardo La Foresta, in quintet with violinist Silvia Tarozzi. From 2008 to 2016 he was part of the Massimo Volume, from 2012 guitarist of the star Mali Rokia Traoré and from 2015 he is part of the Afterhours. He collaborates and collaborated with artists and musicians such as Katia and Marielle Labeque, Manuel Zurria, John Parish, Fire! Orchestra, David Tibet, ZU, Phill Niblock, Oliver Mann, Oren Ambarchi, Marina Rosenfeld, Valerio Tricoli, Claudio Rocchetti, Z'ev, Oliver Mann, Mick Turner, Starfuckers, Laura Agnusdei, Enrico Malatesta, Paolo Spaccamonti, Wu Ming, Angela Bullock, David Maranha, Gianluigi Toccafondo, Julia Kent and many others. He has released over 40 works with numerous Italian and foreign labels and played at many international festivals in Europe, Australia and the United States of America.
